GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering) is an entrance exam for the aspirants who had completed their graduation and wants to pursue for M.Tech. in the same field. Through Gate, you can get admission in IITs (Indian Institute of Technology).

There are also some other entrance exams like GATE through which candidates can get admissions in IITs and IISc for Post-graduation.

IIT JAM Exam (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is another well-known entrance exam for the aspirants who wants to pursue for M.Sc. and for Integrated Ph.D. Courses after completion of their graduation.

Gate exam is conducted for admission in mtech course of IIT's and Nit's but gate score is also consideted in PSU 's for short listing candiadates for further selection processes  . Gate rank is vey important nowdays for a btech graduate .
