Basically, only for the amplifiers which are employed with VOLTAGE SERIES & CURRENT SHUNT, gain is
Vout/Vin and Iout/Iin respectively. But for VOLTAGE SHUNT & CURRENT SERIES, the amplifiers are
trans-resistance and trans-conductance amplifiers respectively and their TRANSFER FUNCTIONS (NOT THE GAIN) have units OHM & MHO respectively.
So, the thing u need to understand is that, we refer to the TRANSFER FUNCTION and not the GAIN, for voltage series and current shunt amplifiers alone the TRANSFER FUNCTION becomes the VOLTAGE AND CURRENT GAIN respectively. |
