MAT is usually conducted 4 times each year in February, May, September and December. The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised degree.
A final year student in any undergraduate discipline (such as B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc) can also appear provisionally. Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different Management Institutes / Universities. For this refer to the prospectus of the particular Management Institute / University.
The number of participating Management Institutes may vary from MAT to MAT. The list of various Management Institutes / Universities is available in the MAT bulletin along with the admission notification. All MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES participating in MAT are either AICTE approved or affiliated to some University. For further information you may contact the MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES / Universities of your choice.
The admission criteria for every institute is different. At present the cost of the MAT Bulletin is Rs. 650/- by cash across the AIMA, New Delhi counter / select UTI Bank branches / AIMA Nodal Centres all over India and Rs. 690/- against Demand Draft (DD) by post. The Demand Draft should be in favor of "AIMA-CMS", payable at New Delhi.
The MAT score is valid for that particular session for most MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES, but for AIMA-CME's PGDM & PGDITM programmes, the score is valid for one year. The last date for submission is mentioned in the MAT Bulletin. The last date also appears in the notification released by AIMA in various national and regional newspapers. For applying to MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES / Universities it is suggested that the respective prospectus be bought so the candidate has full information on the MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES / Universities. The MAT is conducted in all major cities in India and in leading cities abroad. For further clarification, see the MAT Bulletin. he candidate has to download his/her Admit Card from the AIMA website 7 days before the Test Date using the Registration Form Number. No separate Admit Card is mailed to candidate.
There is no age bar for MAT and there is no requirement of job experience. MAT is necessary for admission into PGDM / equivalent programmes offered by AIMA or MANAGEMENT INSTITUTES / Universities who participate in it. The MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. It is designed to measure a person's general aptitudes as the following table indicates:
