
Like in most of the countries, the government of India recruits Civil Servants on the basis of merit by the competitive exam called Indian Engineering Services (IES). IES is normally conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). By this exam, the selected candidates will be recruited in the various engineering positions like the Railroads, Military, Public works, Power, Telecommunications, etc under government.
Aged between 21 to 30.
Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Physically fit.
IES Written Examination.
Selected Candidates will be called for a personality test.
Applying for IES can be two types, Online & also through post.
For the candidates who are applying through post, the application forms can be available at all the Head Post Offices with nominal fee of Rs.100 in the form of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps.
The entrance for Indian Engineering Service comprises of a Written Exam (section I and II) and an Interview. The details follow:
One Engineering Discipline should be chosen from the following categories:
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
The written examination will comprise two sections:
Section I - objective types questions
Section II - conventional (essay) type questions papers.
Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering subject.
